The Brief
A residential developer required a 2,000 m² block fully excavated, levelled, and prepared for slab-on-ground construction. The site had significant grade variation of up to 1.8 m and required a cut-and-fill operation with retaining wall preparation along the rear boundary.
Our Approach
Our team began with a detailed survey to map the existing contours and calculate spoil volumes. We used a 14-tonne excavator for the primary cut, with surplus material redistributed to the low end of the site to minimise off-site disposal costs. Retaining wall footings were formed and poured in-house before final compaction and certification testing. All drainage paths were established in line with the engineer's drawings.
The Outcome
The site was handed over to the builder on schedule — ahead of their slab pour by four days. Compaction testing came in at 98% Modified Proctor across the pad, exceeding the engineer's specification. The retaining walls required zero remediation and the builder commented it was one of the cleanest prepared sites they'd received.
